Both Japanese and French are the most popular cuisine amongst Singaporeans. When you combine them together, you get DOZO<\/a>, a fusion of Japanese, French and European cuisine.<\/p>\n

The service here is fantastic! I made the reservation in the morning, around 11+ am, told them that it’s to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and requested for a nicer seat.<\/p>\n

At around 3 pm, someone from the restaurant called to confirm the reservation and asked for SL’s name. I was rather puzzled but, gave anyway and was confirmed that a nice seat by the window will be reserved for us. However, the only condition is that we have to reach the place on time, fair enough.<\/p>\n

Reached the place @ around 7.20 pm and we were immediately ushered to the window seat. Without asking, the waiter grabbed an additional chair from a empty seat for SL to place her bag. My, the chair is really comfortable and the ambiance is warm and great.<\/p>\n

There’s no a-la-carte in this restaurant, 7 course dinner cost 58.80++. The 7 course dinner consist of Starter, Cold Dish, Side Dish, Soup, Main, Dessert and Drink. There’s a wide selection of items for everything, except for the Starter.<\/p>\n

They served us a complimentary drinks to clear our palate. The drink is very stimulating, it is a little sour and the crushed ice is reviving.<\/p>\n

We were later told that the Starter is so good that they have already pre-selected for us. The starter consist of 3 items, Scallop, Foie Gras and Smoked Salmon.<\/p>\n

After explanation of the items, we were advised to try the Scallop first, followed by the Foie Gras and the Smoked Salmon. There’s nothing special to the Scallop, but the Foie Gras is awesome! The raisin on top gave it a sweet taste when you first put it in your mouth and the biskuit under it enhanced the texture to a higher level. Lastly, the Smoked Salmon is served with a mint leaf and some cream on it which made it less salty and gave it a refreshing taste. It’s heavenly.<\/p>\n

For the Cold Dish, SL ordered Air Flown Seasonal Sashimi Platter<\/em> while I chose the Beef Carpaccio with Shaved Parmesan and Japanese Curry Mayo Mosaic. <\/em>The sashimi are very fresh! The Herring sashimi (cannot remember what the waiter told me) have a bubbly taste as it’s full of roes!<\/p>\n

Beef Carpaccio with Shaved Parmesan and Japanese Curry Mayo Mosaic<\/p>\n

The Beef Carpaccio is excellent as well! The shaved parmesan is especially fragrant. It’s really remarkable when served together with the beef carpaccio and a crispy crepe like cone.<\/p>\n

I chose Grantinated Escargots topped with Garlic and Yuzu Butter<\/em>. The dish comes with 1 at-home and 3 outside-home. I learned that at home means the escargot is still in it’s shell, while outside-home simply means the opposite. I was advised to try the at-home first before the outside-home and I later found out why. The at-home have got a mushroom like taste and is rather bland while the outside-home is rich and creamy. If I were to try the outside-home first, the at-home would seems to be mediocre due to the completely different taste.<\/p>\n

SL had Tempura Battered Soft Shell Crab on Galette of Mash<\/em>. We were told that the crab is a male one!?!? How did the waiter know? Nevertheless, the soft shell crab is being served on top of sweet potato mash. SL don’t really like sweet potatoes so I had it all for myself! \ud83d\ude00 This dish doesn’t taste exceptionally good, nor does it taste bad. It’s just normal soft shell crab, how can any soft shell crab be bad? \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n

Next come the Soup! Both of us chose Infusion of Cepes Mushroom and Truffle<\/em>. The soup came with a small piece of black truffle. I’ve never tasted any truffle before, and don’t really know what to expect from it. The small piece of truffle, although small is very intense in favor. The soup is full of bits of mushroom and is really nice!<\/p>\n

After so many dishes, I’m beginning to feel the food stuffing up in my stomach. At last came my main dish, Beef Tenderloin on ‘Pu-Ye’ & Granite Hot Stone<\/em>, the semi cooked beef tenderloin is placed on ‘Pu-Ye’ to prevent overcooking. The ‘Pu-Ye’, which came from Japan, also add another dose of aroma to the beef when heated. I was told to cook the beef to my liking on the hot stone.<\/p>\n

As for SL’s main dish, she had Baked Atlantic Cod Fillet with Miso Cream Cappuccuino. The fillet is soft and fresh. SL really like the pastries that came together, under the fillet!<\/p>\n

After the main dish, we were led by the waiter to another area in the restaurant where it’s more cosy and lighter atmosphere. We were soon being served with our dessert and drinks. Both SL and me picked Freshly Baked Warm Chocolate Cake Served with Ice Cream<\/em> for our dessert and Iced Fruity Refresher<\/em> for our drinks.<\/p>\n

The chocolate cake is very delicious~ So much better than the cake I had in Cilantro. The chocolate cake is warm and the chocolate in the cake is dainty.<\/p>\n

The Iced Fruity Refresher came in a pot! I easily had 3 – 4 glasses of it from that pot, albeit from the small little cup.<\/p>\n

The waiter also had a surprised for SL! They had a cheese cake for her as birthday cake! She was also given a little tea pot as birthday present! How nice of them!<\/p>\n

When we’re finally done, we have spent 2 hour 10 mins in the restaurant! The service here is extraordinary and the food is fabulous! It’s really nice and I will definitely come back for a second visit in the future. I also strongly recommend this place for special occasions.<\/p>\n
