Saturday is here again and we are going to Pulau Ubin – in search of the King of Fruits, durians!<\/p>\n

FY came to pick JR & me up from our place and we proceed to Changi Village for lunch<\/p>\n

Changi Village<\/strong><\/p>\n

Super long queue for the famous Nasi Lemak @ Changi Village. It is already past 3PM when we sit down and have our lunch.<\/p>\n

JR’s dessert<\/p>\n

After our great meal, we take a slow walk over to Changi Village Ferry Terminal. To get to Palau Ubin, visitors may take a 10 minute bumboat ride from Singapore main island to the small island. Bumboats operate 24 hours from changi Point Ferry Terminal. Each ride cost S$2.50 per person. There are no scheduled departure times to and from Ubin, as the bumboats set off only when there are 12 passengers.<\/p>\n

It is already 4PM! We must hurry and conquer Pulau Ubin! It starts raining and the ground becomes very slippery. We ride hard and stop at the first available shelter hut.<\/p>\n

We continue with our cycling once the rain get smaller. We take short breaks every now and then due to the rain. We even went into the path of the Wild Pig! The Wild Pig is said to be widespread but difficult to encounter as it usually hides in the forest. No photos of the Wild Pig – I’m too scared to be near it.<\/p>\n

We “park” our bikes at the bicycle parking bay available just outside Chek Jawa. We are not allowed to cycle in. Opening hours of Chek Jawa is from 8:30AM to 6:00PM. It’s about 5:10PM and we have less than an hour left.<\/p>\n

Chek Jawa is a large interidal area which is only fully exposed when the tide recedes to less than 0.4 metres. The beauty of Chek Jawa can be enjoyed from the boardwalk, which is divided into the Coastal and the Mangrove Loops.<\/p>\n

The Costal Loop is 600m and follows along the coastline of Che Jawa.<\/p>\n
