Happy New Year!!!
It was an extremely cold day today and it started snowing as expected. I was so happy to see snow on the first day of 2015.
COLD day ahead!
We went out into the cold to visit Yahoo Dome but it was closed. I “danced” in the snow but R didn’t like the snow a lot. She hid her face in JR’s jacket the entire time. JR suggested visiting one of the shrines on New Year’s Day but we gave up after seeing the long queue outside one of the shrines. We did not want to queue out in this cold weather with R.
Snow was getting heavier.
R really didn’t like the snow.
We were back at Hakata Station for lunch. This time JR parked our car at a carpark linked to Deitos. The Ramen restaurants were packed with people when we arrived. As we were hungry, we picked a restaurant without queue.
The ramen was also not bad, wonder why there was no queue.
Add on a plate of fried rice.
We shopped at Tokyu Hands and Amu Shopping Centre after lunch. There was nothing to buy so we went back to Tenjin. We were looking for a carpark nearest to Daimaru before we noticed that the street was empty. The whole shopping street was deserted! All shops closed on New Year’s Day. We made a stop at Mandarake, one of Tokyo’s largest stores selling 2nd hand anime and manga related products.
There was nowhere else to go so we went supermarket shopping. Drove to Aeon to get our dinner from the supermarket but the food selection was limited so we decided to revisit the other bigger Aeon that we visited the other day. We managed to get sashimi, sushi and salad from the bigger Aeon. It was our last dinner in this trip so we bought lots of food. MORE sashimi for me please!!!
We spent the rest of our last night in Fukuoka in our room packing our luggage.

After checking out of the hotel, we drove to Hertz, which is located near the airport. We were worried how to walk to the airport with our luggage. Not too sure if shuttle is provided to the airport from Hertz but the guy decided to drive us in our car to the airport. We didn’t even have to move our luggage until we reach the airport. We did last minute shopping at the Departure Hall. Royce chocolates are so much cheaper in Japan!
R was quite well behaved on the flight back to Singapore except the parts when we had to belt her up. I managed to watch 3 movies on the way back!
